Families in need across the Colorado Front Range will have nutritious food this holiday season thanks to local holiday heroes. The Denver7 Holiday Heroes is a holiday donation campaign made possible by a new partnership between Denver7, Whole Foods Markets, Security Service Federal Credit Union, Food Bank of the Rockies and Community Food Share.
“Denver7 is in a great position to connect organizations for a great cause and feed our local community,” said Brad Remington, general manager for KMGH. “We are proud to partner with other companies who have the passion to make a difference, and expect this to be an annual campaign.”
Throughout the month of November, monetary donations will be collected at 15 participating Whole Foods Markets and 11 Security Service Federal Credit Union locations along the Colorado Front Range. Online donations are being collected
All donations will be used to support weekend food programs for local children and their families administered by Food Bank of the Rockies in Metro Denver and Community Food Share in Boulder and Broomfield. Donations contributed at Whole Foods will provide food for these programs under Whole Foods’ private label, 365 Everyday Value. Prior to the holiday break, food distribution to local schoolchildren will be managed by Food Bank of the Rockies and Community Food Share.
“Too many families in our community don’t always have enough money to provide three healthy meals for everyone in the household, especially on weekends when school meals aren’t available,” said Kevin Seggelke, president and CEO at Food Bank of the Rockies.
“Nutritious food is vital for families and children,” adds Michelle Orge, executive director at Community Food Share. “Funds raised allow us to connect healthy food to those that need it.”
Fundraising drives for food fit the core values and expertise of the participating organizations. Denver7 Holiday Heroes is an expansion of Whole Foods “Feed4More” seasonal campaign and Food Bank of the Rockies “Totes for Hope” program. The Holiday Heroes campaign is modeled after other successful Denver7 community programs.
“Last year, Whole Foods Markets raised over $195,000 in its Denver and Boulder stores to help feed families and kids in need through local food banks and pantries,” said Nancy Kaskel, Colorado metro marketing and community relations for Whole Foods Market. “We are proud to be a part of the Holiday Heroes campaign to help feed kids and families all over Colorado.”
The generosity of holiday heroes will feed more families and kids in need thanks to the partnership that Denver7 forged between companies with national brands.
“The collaboration of various partners allows more people to make an impact on those less fortunate in our community,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We all have the same goal, to collect as many resources as possible to provide meals to those children and families who otherwise would go without.”
