A New Exhibit at the Paterson Museum
A Tale of Two Historic Cities, opening at the Paterson Museum on Saturday, July 1, celebrates the special relationship between Paterson and Washington, D.C. that has developed over the last 225 years. Beginning with Alexander Hamilton, who played a major role in determining where the cities were built and what they would become, the relationship would continue and evolve over the next two centuries. The exhibit explores the notable public leaders, city planners, civil rights pioneers, entrepreneurs, artists, and entertainers that forged historic and contemporary connections between the two cities.
A Tale of Two Historic Cities, organized by the Hamilton Partnership for Paterson, the Paterson Museum, and the National Park Service, was inspired by what Paterson students have learned about the extraordinary connections between their hometown and our nation’s capital. Three students who participated in an educational trip to Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2016 will be available to discuss their experiences and answer questions at a special press preview of the exhibit on Friday, June 30, at 3:00 pm. The Hamilton Partnership and the Paterson Museum will host an opening reception for the exhibit on Tuesday, July 4 at 12:00 pm.
