In likeness to Florida’s famous 30-A, Port Aransas is experiencing a resurgence of New Urbanism with Sunflower Beach Resort and Residences opening directly across from Palmilla Beach Resort and just up the road from Cinnamon Shore, two other local New Urbanism communities. Sunflower Beach takes it a step further and is the first community to allow for modern design in the community’s design code – including 21 oceanview condominiums and luxury single family homes designed by one of Texas’ most highly acclaimed architects and former Dean of UT School of Architecture, Larry Speck.

“We’ve seen a rebirth in modern design in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio, but this will be the first time we’ve seen it along the Texas coast,” says Brandon Miller of BMG Austin, a consulting agency specializing in urban in-fill and resort development.

Fun and approachable, yet modern in design, Sunflower Beach is distinctively modeled after Florida’s 30-A communities such as Seaside, Watercolor, and Alys Beach. New Urbanism principles of walkability, quiet lanes, open green spaces, wayfinding towers, and a focus on creating social interactions are the driving forces behind Sunflower Beach’s design which includes a centralized Sunflower Park, an oceanview restaurant, and a community Beach Club featuring both family and adult-only resort-style pools, an event pavilion, and poolside dining.

With an appeal to most any vacation home buyer, Sunflower Beach also offers a thoughtful mix of home sites and 3 to 5 bedroom luxury homes in a variety of architectural styles with the intention to maximize views of the ocean, golf course, dune preserves and one of its 7 community parks. In appreciation of all resident views, each corridor along residential streets leads to an inspiring view of an architectural landmark, including the 60-foot monument tower at the heart of the community.

Sunflower Beach is now open for sales with a 2,500 square foot Sales Presentation Center. In a beautiful gallery style setting, potential homebuyers can learn about the community’s many residential offerings, resort-style amenities, and its founding principles of New Urbanism.

Condominiums start from the $290s and are 50% reserved with construction beginning Summer of 2016. Luxury homes are from the $600s with Homesites from the $160s.
