More than 10 Maryland Distillers Set to Attend
The Maryland Distillers Guild and FNP Events are pleased as (spiked) punch to announce the first-ever Frederick Craft Spirits Festival. Set to take place Saturday, April 22, 2017, the event will spotlight some of Maryland’s premier distilleries via tastings, seminars and programs aimed to help educate the casual drinker who has a penchant for homegrown spirits.
Set right in the heart of downtown Frederick, at the 200 East Art Haus, located at 200 E. Patrick St., the festival will be split into two sessions. The first three-hour session will begin at noon and the second at 3:30 p.m. VIP ticket-holders will be offered the opportunity to sit in on various programs featuring speakers from multiple Maryland distilleries. Those same ticket-holders will also be offered exclusive, limited-run spirits not otherwise available.
Among the distillers taking part in this year’s festival are:
Old Line Spirits (Baltimore)
Lyon Distilling (Eastern Shore)
Twin Valley Distillers (Rockville)
Bad Alfred’s Distilling (Chestertown)
Dragon Distillery, LLC (Frederick)
Tenth Ward Distilling Company (Frederick)
Fiore Winery & Distillery (Pylesville)
Springfield Manor Winery & Distillery (Thurmont)
MISCellaneous Distillery (Mount Airy)
Tobacco Barn Distillery (Southern Maryland)
Blackwater Distilling (Stevensville)
“Frederick is quickly becoming one of the crown jewels of the Maryland spirits industry, with four distilleries located within the county,” said Kevin Atticks, executive director of the Maryland Distillers Guild. “The Frederick Craft Spirits Festival will showcase the incredible — and diverse — products being produced by our local distilleries.”
“A craft spirits festival in Frederick is something the Frederick Distillery Association has had on our list of goals since forming in September of 2015,” said Monica Pearce, co-founder of Tenth Ward Distilling Company. “Now that there are almost 20 craft distilleries throughout the state, we are proud to have the opportunity to share craft spirits from all over Maryland with our colleagues, friends and spirit enthusiasts throughout the region.”
In addition to the spirits on hand, live music will be performed by local Americana artist Luke Alexander, who promises to bring a handful of surprises — as well as guests — along with him. Free water will also be provided by Essentia Water, and an array of food trucks will make sure you don’t go through the day tasting products from some of the Old Line State’s most celebrated distillers on an empty stomach.
General admission tickets for the Frederick Craft Spirits Festival are $55, while VIP tickets cost $75. Ordering before April 1 will ensure a $10 discount on each ticket purchased.
