Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel and Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller, two of the most respected leaders in public office today in Michigan, announced that they are both urging voters to support ANDREW RICHNER for re-election.
“Andrew’s focus as a Regent is to assure that all Michigan students have access to an affordable education,” Hackel said Thursday. “Regents from both political parties unanimously elected Andrew to serve as Chairman of the Board of Regents. Please support Andrew Richner for Regent.”
Candice Miller also expressed her enthusiastic support. “Talk about Go Blue! I have known Andrew and his family for many, many years and this is a guy that focuses so much on his work, effort, volunteerism and commitment to the University of Michigan. Today I am asking you to join me in voting for my very good friend Andrew Richner for the University of Michigan Board of Regents.”
Richner was humbled by the endorsements. “To have Mark Hackel and Candice Miller endorse my candidacy for re-election is a tremendous honor,” Richner said.
Richner also noted the significance of earning support from officials coming from opposing political parties.
“To me this reflects that it’s not all about political parties, but rather doing what is in the best interests for the people we serve regardless of political agenda. Having the support of two highly regarded elected officials from different political parties is reflective of our shared belief that providing high quality education at an affordable price transcends partisan politics.”
“My priority is to assure that the University of Michigan retains its status as one of the world’s great public research universities, serving our students, health care patients and the people of the State of Michigan,” Richner concluded.
Andrew Richner is the Chairman of the University of Michigan Board of Regents. He is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives. He is a lawyer and partner in the government practice group of Clark Hill PLC in Detroit and is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan Business School and Law School. He and his wife, Susan (an MSU alum!), have two children, both recent graduates of the University of Michigan.
